Walter Wright to go the extra mile
Walter Wright set their sights high and have gone the extra mile for The British Heart Foundation.
Last June our Tax Manager Alain Harris died following heart surgery. Alain was well known within the local community, having worked for the company for 24 years. His death left a huge hole in the practice and we wanted to undertake some form of event in his memory that all staff could participate in regardless of age and ability. After much deliberation a sponsored static cycle ride was agreed upon.
We started this epic adventure covering the 418 miles from his home town of Felixstowe to the heart of his Scottish roots, Edinburgh, on Monday 4 April and completed the route within 5 days!
Having set ourselves a realistic target of £2,000, we are delighted to report that we have more than tripled this amount and have handed over £6,004.15 to the British Heart Foundation, the charity considered most appropriate to Alain’s illness.
Anita Postle of Walter Wright said “It was great fun doing the miles and friends, family and clients have been absolutely amazing with their donations and support – the total we have raised just goes to show how much Alain was loved and thought of by everyone. He was a lovely man and is greatly missed.
We would like to thank everyone who sponsored us and indeed those who actually came into the office and cycled some of the route with us – we are all very proud of what we have achieved for such a worthwhile cause in Alain’s memory”.
